Twig and Shoot Dieback of Citrus, a New Disease Caused by Colletotrichum Species

(1) Background: This study was aimed at identifying the Colletotrichum species associated with twig and shoot dieback of citrus, a new syndrome occurring in the Mediterranean region and also reported as emerging in California. (2) Methods: Overall, 119 Colletotrichum isolates were characterized. They were recovered from symptomatic trees of sweet orange, mandarin and mandarin-like fruits during a survey of citrus groves in Albania and Sicily (southern Italy). (3) Results: The isolates were grouped into two distinct morphotypes. Morphological and molecular characterization of three new parastenocarididae (Copepoda: Harpacticoida) from caves in Southern Italy

We describe three new parastenocaridid: Cottarellicaris sanctiangeli Bruno &amp; Cottarelli sp. nov., Stammericaris vincentimariae Bruno &amp; Cottarelli sp. nov. and Proserpinicars specincola Bruno &amp; Cottarelli sp. nov., collected in the pools of five different caves located in Calabria (Southern Italy). We conducted a phylogenetic analysis based on the mitochondrial COI and ribosomal 18S sequences of C. sanctiangeli sp. nov. and S. vincentimariae sp. nov., and of four more species of Stammericaris and one Proserpinicaris available from literature. TamHang, located in northeastern Laos, in the Hua Pan province, is a reference site not only for its numerous archaeological and human remains, but also for its two faunal assemblages, whose composition suggests different dating in the Pleistocene. Preliminary study on geogenic degassing through the big karstic aquifers of Greece

Non-volcanic degassing contributes to the C-cycle by providing on a global scale a significant amount of CO2 emitted through diffuse earth degassing processes (Kerrick et al 1995). Due to the elevated solubility of the CO2 in water, in the areas where high CO2 fluxes directly affect regional aquifers, most of it can be dissolved, transported and released by groundwaters.
